Slow Cooker Chocolate Lava Cake 🍫🍰

Ingredients:

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix (with ingredients required on the box, typically eggs, oil, and water)
  • 1 (3.9 oz) box instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk (optional, for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the slow cooker: Grease the inside of your slow cooker (6-quart size works best) with non-stick spray or butter to prevent sticking.

  2. Make the cake batter: In a large bowl, prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions (typically with eggs, oil, and water). Stir well until smooth.

  3. Prepare the pudding mix: In a separate bowl, mix together the instant chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups of water. Stir until the pudding mix is dissolved, then set aside.

  4. Layer the cake mix: Pour the prepared cake batter into the slow cooker, spreading it evenly across the bottom.

  5. Add the chocolate chips and brown sugar: Sprinkle the chocolate chips and brown sugar evenly over the top of the cake batter.

  6. Add the pudding: Slowly pour the prepared pudding mixture over the top of the cake batter (do not stir). It will sink into the cake and create the lava effect.

  7. Cook the cake: Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on low for 2 to 2.5 hours. The cake should be set on top, but the center should still be gooey and lava-like.

  8. Check for doneness: When done, the edges of the cake will be firm, but the center should still be soft and fudgy. Be careful not to overcook the cake.

  9. Serve: Scoop out servings of the cake, ensuring you get some of the gooey center. Serve warm with a drizzle of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.

Tips:

  • Toppings: Add whipped cream or fresh berries on top for extra flavor and freshness.
  • Make it extra chocolatey: You can add more chocolate chips or drizzle chocolate syrup over the cake for an even more indulgent treat.
  • Leftovers: Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated in the microwave for a quick, delicious snack.

This Slow Cooker Chocolate Lava Cake is a rich and satisfying dessert that requires minimal effort while delivering maximum chocolatey goodness! Enjoy! 🍫🍨
