Zesty Lemon Butter Fish Fillet

Light, flaky fish with a golden crust, bathed in a vibrant lemon-butter sauce—ready in 20 minutes!

This dish is bright, buttery, and bursting with fresh citrus flavor, perfect for a quick yet elegant meal.


Ingredients

For the Fish:

  • 4 white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, haddock, or halibut)

  • 1 tsp paprika (smoked or sweet)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or butter)

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

For the Lemon Butter Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • Juice of 1 lemon (~3 tbsp)

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 tbsp capers (optional, for tang)

  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)


Instructions

1️⃣ Season & Sear the Fish

  1. Pat fish dry with paper towels.

  2. Mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Rub evenly over fillets.

  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Cook fish for 3-4 mins per side until golden and flaky. Remove and set aside.

2️⃣ Make the Lemon Butter Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.

  2. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Stir in lemon juice, zest, parsley, capers (if using), and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 1 minute.

3️⃣ Finish & Serve

  1. Return fish to the skillet, spooning sauce over it. Heat for 1 more minute.

  2. Garnish with extra parsley and lemon slices.


Serving Suggestions

🍚 Pair with: Garlic mashed potatoes, steamed asparagus, or a crisp arugula salad.
🍋 Extra zing? Add a splash of white wine to the sauce.
🔥 Crispy upgrade? Dust fish with a little flour before searing.
