Best Homemade Salsa Ever

Preparation Time:

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Difficulty Level:

  • Easy

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
  • 1/2 cup canned corn (optional)
  • 1/2 cup black beans, rinsed and drained (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Vegetables:
    • Dice the tomatoes and finely chop the red onion, jalapeño peppers, and cilantro.
    • Mince the garlic cloves.
  2. Combine Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, minced garlic, and chopped jalapeños.
    • Add the fresh cilantro, lime juice, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. If using, add the canned corn and black beans.
  3. Mix Well:
    • Stir all the ingredients together until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more salt, pepper, or lime juice to your preference.
    • If the salsa is too acidic, add a teaspoon of sugar to balance the flavors.
  4. Chill and Serve:
    • For best results, cover and refrigerate the salsa for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
    • Serve chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, or any of your favorite dishes.
