Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza

(Serves 4–6)

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count, like Pillsbury Grands)

For the Sausage Gravy:

  • ½ lb breakfast sausage (pork or beef)

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups whole milk (or half-and-half for extra richness)

  • ½ tsp black pepper (freshly cracked is best)

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)

For the Toppings:

  • 4 large eggs, scrambled

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 tbsp chopped chives or green onions (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Prep the Crust:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-inch pizza pan or baking sheet.

  • Flatten each biscuit into a 3-inch round. Press biscuits together on the pan to form a crust, sealing edges.

  • Bake for 8–10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and set aside.

2. Make the Sausage Gravy:

  • In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned. Do not drain.

  • Sprinkle flour over sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1–2 minutes to remove raw flour taste.

  • Gradually whisk in milk, pepper, salt, and garlic powder. Simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened (gravy should coat the back of a spoon).

3. Assemble & Bake:

  • Spread warm gravy evenly over the biscuit crust.

  • Top with scrambled eggs and shredded cheese.

  • Return to oven for 5–7 minutes until cheese melts.

4. Garnish & Serve:

  • Sprinkle with chives and extra black pepper.

  • Slice into wedges and serve hot!

Tips & Variations:

  • Extra Crispy Crust: Brush biscuit dough with melted butter before baking.

  • Loaded Version: Add diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or crispy bacon.

  • Spicy Twist: Use hot sausage or add a dash of hot sauce to the gravy.

  • Shortcut: Use store-bought sausage gravy (like Heinz) for a quicker version.

This breakfast pizza is the ultimate comfort food mashup—flaky, creamy, and packed with protein. Pair it with a fresh fruit salad or hash browns!
