  • Tips:

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (plus the ingredients required on the box, usually eggs, oil, and water)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

For the Praline Topping:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

For the Whipped Topping:

  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), thawed

Instructions:

Step 1: Bake the Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the yellow cake mix according to the instructions on the box (usually requiring water, eggs, and oil).
  3. Stir in the chopped pecans into the cake batter.
  4. Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking dish and bake according to the package directions, typically for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.

Step 2: Poke the Cake

  1. Once the cake is slightly cooled, use a fork or the handle of a wooden spoon to gently poke holes all over the cake, about 1-inch apart.

Step 3: Add Sweetened Condensed Milk

  1. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top of the cake, making sure it fills the holes. Let the cake absorb the milk as it cools completely, about 30-45 minutes.

Step 4: Prepare the Praline Topping

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the brown sugar and heavy cream to the melted butter, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans.
  4. Let the praline sauce cool for a few minutes before pouring it evenly over the cooled cake.

Step 5: Top with Whipped Cream

  1. Spread the whipped topping (Cool Whip) over the top of the cake, covering it completely.
  2. Optionally, sprinkle with a few additional chopped pecans for decoration.

Step 6: Chill and Serve

  1. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.
  2. Serve chilled and enjoy the rich, creamy, and nutty flavors of this indulgent Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake!

Tips:

  • You can substitute the yellow cake mix with a homemade butter cake if you prefer from-scratch baking.
  • For a richer flavor, you could toast the pecans in a dry pan before adding them to the cake batter or the praline topping.

This Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake is sure to be a hit at your next party, family gathering, or holiday celebration! Enjoy! 🍰
