  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Grill or Oven:

    • If you’re grilling: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F or 200°C).
    • If you’re baking: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Potatoes:

    • Wash and peel the potatoes (if desired), then slice them thinly (about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick).
    • Place the potato slices in a large bowl.
  3. Season the Potatoes:

    • Drizzle the potatoes with the ranch dressing and toss to coat evenly.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add more ranch dressing if you prefer it creamier.
  4. Assemble the Foil Packets:

    • Tear off four large sheets of aluminum foil (about 12 inches each).
    • On each sheet of foil, layer a portion of the sliced potatoes in the center.
    • Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the potatoes.
    • Add a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese on top of each portion of potatoes and bacon.
  5. Seal the Foil Packets:

    • Carefully fold the sides of the foil up over the potatoes and seal the packet by folding the top and bottom edges over. Make sure the packet is tightly sealed to keep the steam in while cooking.
  6. Cook the Foil Packets:

    • On the Grill: Place the foil packets on the grill over medium-high heat. Cook for about 25-30 minutes, turning the packets halfway through to ensure even cooking. Check the potatoes for tenderness by piercing them with a fork. If needed, cook for an additional 5-10 minutes.

    • In the Oven: Place the foil packets on a baking sheet and bake for about 30-35 minutes. You can check for doneness by carefully opening one packet and testing the potatoes with a fork. If they’re tender, the packets are ready.

  7. Serve:

    • Once the potatoes are fully cooked and tender, remove the packets from the grill or oven.
    • Carefully open each foil packet (watch out for hot steam) and serve the cheesy bacon ranch potatoes as a side dish or a standalone meal!
