Creamy Beef and Shells

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz small pasta shells
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the Beef:
    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
    • Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the Liquid Ingredients:
    • Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
    • Stir in the heavy cream and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Combine with Pasta:
    • Add the cooked pasta shells to the skillet and stir to combine. Let everything simmer for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  5. Add Cheese:
    • Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Tips:

  • For added flavor, consider mixing in some vegetables like spinach or peas.
  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
