Crockpot Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ pounds beef sirloin, thinly sliced (or use flank steak)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (any color)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4-6 hoagie rolls or sub buns
  • 1 cup provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice, such as cheddar or American)
  • Optional toppings: sautéed mushrooms, hot peppers, or extra cheese

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • If not already done, thinly slice the beef, onion, and bell pepper.
  2. Layer in the Crockpot:
    • In the crockpot, layer the sliced beef, onion, and bell pepper. Add the minced garlic on top.
  3. Add Liquids and Seasonings:
    • Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over the meat and vegetables. Sprinkle with oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Cook:
    • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender.
  5. Toast the Rolls:
    • About 15 minutes before serving, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, until lightly crispy.
  6. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Using a slotted spoon, fill each toasted hoagie roll with the beef and vegetable mixture. Top with provolone cheese.
  7. Melt the Cheese:
    • Place the filled sandwiches back in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  8. Serve:
    • Serve hot with your favorite sides like chips or a salad.
