Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Prepare the Bread:
    • Slice the bread loaf in half lengthwise.
    • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  4. Add Parmesan Cheese:
    • If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the buttered bread.
  5. Bake the Bread:
    • Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, buttered side up.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the butter is melted. For extra crispiness, you can broil the bread for an additional 1-2 minutes, keeping a close eye on it to prevent burning.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and slice into pieces.
    • Serve warm as a side dish to your favorite pasta, soup, or salad.
