Ingredients:

  • For the Salisbury Steaks:

    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp onion powder
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Potato Skillet:

    • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
    • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Gravy:

    • 1/2 cup beef broth
    • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
    • 1 tbsp butter
    • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Make the Salisbury Steaks:

    • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
    • Form the mixture into 4-6 patties.
    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the patties until browned on both sides and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Make the Potato Skillet:

    • In the same skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the diced potatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10-12 minutes, until golden and tender.
    • Add the chopped onion and garlic, and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until fragrant.
    • Season with thyme (if using), salt, and pepper.
  3. Make the Gravy:

    • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add the flour. Stir to create a roux and cook for about 1 minute.
    • Slowly whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and bring to a simmer. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the gravy thickens.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Assemble the Skillet:

    • Return the Salisbury steak patties to the skillet with the potatoes. Pour the gravy over the steaks and potatoes. Cover and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing everything to heat through and for the flavors to meld together.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Serve the Salisbury Steak Potato Skillet hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
