Slow Cooker Barbecued Beef Ribs Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 pounds beef ribs (short ribs or back ribs)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

Instructions:

1. Season the Ribs:

  • Pat the beef ribs dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and smoked paprika (if using).

2. Brown the Ribs (Optional):

  • For extra flavor, you can brown the ribs in a skillet over medium-high heat with a little oil for 2-3 minutes on each side. This step is optional but adds depth to the flavor.

3. Add to Slow Cooker:

  • Place the seasoned ribs in the slow cooker. Pour in the beef broth.

4. Cook:

  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours, until the ribs are tender and easily pull away from the bone.

5. Add Barbecue Sauce:

  • About 30 minutes before serving, drain excess liquid from the slow cooker (if necessary) and pour the barbecue sauce over the ribs. Toss gently to coat.

6. Serve:

  • Let the ribs cook for an additional 30 minutes on high to warm the barbecue sauce.
  • Serve hot with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
