Blueberry Cheesecake Rolls 🍇🍰

These Blueberry Cheesecake Rolls combine the sweetness of blueberry filling with creamy cheesecake and soft, fluffy dough, making them an irresistible dessert or breakfast treat. The cream cheese filling is rich and tangy, while the blueberries provide a fresh burst of flavor.

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the Cheesecake Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk

For the Blueberry Filling:

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Topping:

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  2. Prepare the Blueberry Filling:

    • In a small saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and the blueberries burst. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  3. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling:

    • In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese with the sugar until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and egg yolk, and mix until combined. Set aside.
  4. Assemble the Rolls:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 12×18 inches on a lightly floured surface.
    • Spread the cheesecake filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border along the edges.
    • Spoon the blueberry filling over the cheesecake layer, spreading it evenly.
    • Carefully roll the dough from the longer side into a tight log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Bake the Rolls:

    • Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top and cooked through.
    • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
  6. Glaze and Serve:

    • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
    • Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for a glossy finish.
    • Serve warm and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Substitute Blueberries: You can use other berries like raspberries or strawberries if you prefer.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the rolls the night before and refrigerate them overnight before baking. Let them rise for 30 minutes at room temperature before baking in the morning.
  • Cream Cheese Layer: If you want a richer cheesecake flavor, you can double the cream cheese filling and spread it thicker.

These Blueberry Cheesecake Rolls are a perfect treat for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, with a luscious combination of creamy cheesecake, sweet blueberries, and soft, buttery dough. Enjoy! 🍇🍰
