Pineapple Ginger Energy Shots

Ingredients:

  • Fresh pineapple – 1 cup, chopped (or use pineapple juice if fresh isn’t available)
  • Fresh ginger root – 1 inch, peeled and chopped (or 1 tsp ground ginger)
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp (freshly squeezed)
  • Honey or maple syrup (optional) – 1 tsp, for sweetness
  • Cayenne pepper (optional) – 1/4 tsp, for an extra kick
  • Water or coconut water – 1/4 cup (to thin the juice)
  • Turmeric powder (optional) – a pinch, for extra anti-inflammatory benefits

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:

  1. If using fresh pineapple, peel and chop it into small chunks. You’ll need about 1 cup of pineapple for these shots.
  2. Peel and chop about 1 inch of fresh ginger. Fresh ginger gives the best flavor and potency, but if you don’t have it, you can use ground ginger as a substitute.
  3. Squeeze the juice from a lemon.

2. Blend the Ingredients:

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine the chopped pineapple, ginger, lemon juice, honey or maple syrup (if using), and water (or coconut water). You can add a pinch of turmeric powder and cayenne pepper for an extra health boost and a bit of heat.
  2. Blend everything until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, you can add more water to thin it out to your preferred consistency.

3. Strain the Juice (Optional):

  1. If you prefer a smoother shot, strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove any pulp and fiber.

4. Serve the Energy Shots:

  1. Pour the juice into small shot glasses (about 1 ounce per shot) and serve immediately for the freshest taste and maximum nutrients.
  2. You can store any leftover juice in the fridge for up to 2 days, but it’s best enjoyed fresh.

5. Optional Garnishes:

  • Garnish with a slice of lemon or pineapple for a fun touch.
  • Sprinkle a tiny bit of cayenne pepper or turmeric on top for added color and benefits.

Health Benefits:

  • Pineapple: Rich in vitamin C, bromelain (which helps with digestion), and antioxidants.
  • Ginger: Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, aids digestion, and boosts immunity.
  • Lemon: A great source of vitamin C, supports hydration, and helps detoxify.
  • Cayenne Pepper: Can boost metabolism and enhance circulation.
  • Turmeric: Has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Tips:

  • If you’re not a fan of too much heat, adjust or omit the cayenne pepper and ginger to suit your taste.
  • You can make a larger batch and store it in the fridge for a quick pick-me-up throughout the day. Just shake it up before consuming!
  • For extra hydration, try using coconut water instead of regular water. It’s full of electrolytes and great for rehydration.

These Pineapple Ginger Energy Shots are a natural and vibrant way to get your day started, combat fatigue, and boost your metabolism! Enjoy!
