Salisbury Steak Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef Patties:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix until well combined and shape the mixture into 4 oval patties.
  2. Cook the Patties:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the beef patties and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove patties from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Onion Gravy:
    • In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they are softened and golden brown.
    • Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well to coat.
    • Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
    • Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 2 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
  4. Combine and Cook:
    • Return the beef patties to the skillet, nestling them into the onion gravy.
    • Cover and cook for an additional 15 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the Salisbury steak patties with the onion gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
